Solution:
The vertebral column is made up of 26 small bones known as vertebrae. These include seven cervical, twelve thoracic, five lumbar, one sacral, and one coccygeal. Every vertebra has a neural canal through which spinal cord passes. It supports and protects the spinal cord which is a nervous tissue in the same way as cranium protects the brain.
