Minimata disease has occurred due to consumption of heavily mercury contaminated fish by the villagers in Japan first. The source of mercury to the bay was a single chloride producing plant, using as a catalyst. Initial symptoms of Minimata disease included numbness of the limbs, lips and tongue, impairment of motor control, deafness and blurring of vision.
