In the five-kingdom classification system, the kingdom Monera includes all the prokaryotic celled organisms. Prokaryotes are organisms whose cells lack a well-defined nucleus. All the bacterial groups are included in Monera as well since bacteria have a prokaryotic cell structure. Cyanobacteria are a group of free-living photosynthetic bacteria that perform oxygenic photosynthetic process which are included in the kingdom Monera. Bacillus is a genus of rod-shaped bacteria under Monera. Oscillatoria is a group of cyanobacteria which reproduces by fragmentation method.
Kingdom Protista includes all single-celled eukaryotes. Protozoans, Euglenoids, Dinoflagellates are included in this group. Organisms in the kingdom are primarily aquatic and some show presence of flagella and cilia. Euglena and Trypanosoma come under the kingdom Protista.
All the chlorophyll containing eukaryotes are included in the kingdom Plantae. All the organisms in it have cell wall made of cellulose and are autotrophic (some partial autotrophic- insectivorous plant). It also includes the thallophytes like algae group Chlamydomonas. Solanum is an economically important plant genus which includes potato and tomato.
Fungi form a unique group of heterotrophic organisms showing wide diversity. These organisms have cell wall which is made of chitin unlike cellulose seen in plants. The commonly consumed mushroom and toadstool are included in this kingdom. These organisms are achlorophyllous as they are all non-photosynthetic. Penicillium and Mucor are part of the Fungi.
Kingdom Animalia includes all the multicellular-eukaryotic animals. The organisms are heterotrophic and lack cell walls. Animals digest their food internally showing holozoic nutrition. Majority of them show capacity of locomotion. Felis is a genus of this kingdom which includes small and medium sized cats. Panthera is another genus that includes all spotted cats. It also includes the tiger and lion group.
