The sperm can be divided into four parts:
(i) Head : consists of an elongated haploid nucleus storing genetic material and at tip of the head is acrosome, which consist of various hydrolysing enzymes.
(ii) Neck: It is very short and consists of two centrioles.
(iii) Middle piece : It is cylindrical in human sperm and consists of mitochondria, which provides energy for movement of sperm inside female reproductive tract. The energy provided by mitochondria can help sperm survive days.
(iv) Tail : It is long, slender and consists of cytoplasm. It helps in providing sperm with motility.
