Solution:

Pneumatophores or breething roots or respiratory roots are common in thallophytes or mangrooves which grow in muddy saline soil near sea shores. Some lateral branches of the root come out of the soil (negative geotropic) and they develop small pores which help in respiration or gaseous exchange and known as pneumatophores e.g., Rhizophora, Avicennia and Hertiera.
