The asexual spores that are found on the external surface of the spore-producing structures or cells (conidiophores) which produces it are known as conidia. This kind of reproduction is seen in the ascomycetes group of fungi also known as sac fungi which are mostly multicellular saprophytic decomposers a parasitic. Few examples of this fungi are Penicillium, Aspergillus, Claviceps and Neurospora.
