The force between walls and water called adhesion force. Diffusion of water from its pure or dilute solution into a stronger solution when the two are separated by a semi-permeable membrane is termed as osmosis. In plants water supply is due to osmosis. The absorption of water by the solid particles of an adsorbant without forming a solution is called imbibition. The loss of water in the form of liquid droplets from the leaves and other parts of an uninjured or intact plant is called guttation.
