Solution:

Food after being synthesized in plant leaves in form of glucose is translocated with the help of phloem in the form of sucrose. Sucrose is a nonreducing sugar and thus is preferred over reducing sugars like glucose and fructose. Reducing sugars contain exposed aldehyde or ketone group and are more reactive and their reactivity can hinder translocation.
