Solution:
Osmosis is the process which takes place due to difference in the concentration of solutions. The movement of molecules always takes place from a solution of less concentration to a solution of high concentration. Hypertonic solution is one which has a higher concentration of solute as compared to the other solution, therefore if a cell is placed in a hypertonic solution it will lose water due to exosmosis ( transfer of molecules outside the cell) and become a plasmolysed cell(shrinking of the cell).
