One of the steps in the photosynthesis process is dark reaction where the carbondioxide is reduced to glucose via the Calvin cycle and this process is independent of light. This phase is called as biosynthetic phase. The process is dependent on the products of light reaction but not on light itself. If the light becomes unavailable to the plant, the dark reaction phase (biosynthetic process) will continue until the products are available. After the depletion of the products, this process will stop until light is available again. Hence, dark reaction will continue for a short duration even if light is not available.
