Since α,β are roots of the equation (x−a)(x−b)=5
or x2−(a+b)x+(ab−5)=0 ∴α+β=a+b or a+b=α+β
and αβ=ab−5 or ab=αβ+5…(i)
Taking another equation (x−α)(x−β)+5=0 ⇒x2−(α+β)x+(αβ+5)=0 ⇒x2−(a+b)x+ab=0 (using(i)) ∴ Its roots are a,b.
