Resistance of wire R=Aρl…(i)
On stretching, volume (V) remains constant
So V=Al
or A=lV ∴R=Vρl2 (Using (i))
Taking logarithm on both sides and differentiating we get, RΔR=l2Δl (∵V and ρ are constants)
or RΔR%=l2Δl%
Hence, when wire is stretched by 0.1% its resistance will increase by 0.2%
