After pollination, the pollen grains on the stigma germinate. Flowers have a unique technique of selecting the appropriate pollen grain called pollen pistil interaction. After germinating on the stigma, pollen tube develops which provides a pathway for the male gametes to reach the ovary. The filiform apparatus guides the pollen tube towards the egg. The micropyle is the weakest point of the integuments and is the only entry point for male gametes into the ovule.
