In meiosis, there is a reduction in cell division and that occurs in gametes. This organism has 2n = 6 chromosomes and during meiosis, they will be reduced to 3 chromosomes. In diagram (a) Three homologous pairs of chromosomes are in line along with the metaphase plate during metaphase l, followed by which, the homologous chromosome will separate and the cell will enter meiosis ll. In diagram (b), which is mitotic anaphase, sister chromatids of chromosomes move apart. In diagram (c), which is anaphase ll, sister chromatids of chromosomes move apart. In mitosis, chromosome number remains the same; hence, the number of chromosomes will be six.
