: The hypophysial portal system is the vessel which carries blood from the median eminence of hypothalamus to the pars distalis of anterior pituitary, having capillary network at both the ends. It drains the hypothalamic releasing hormone to the anterior pituitary for regulation of the trophic hormones. Hence, the hypothalamic pituitary system is a direct proof of coordination between the hormonal and nervous system. It regulates most of the physiological activities of body and maintains homeostasis inside the body.
