Solution:
The process by which sperms are produced is called spermatogenesis. A cycle of spermatogenesis involves the division of primitive spermatogonial stem cells to produce spermatogoina. These divide by mitosis to produce spermatocytes, which divide by meiosis to produce four haploid spermatids which transform into mature sperms by the process of spermiogenesis. The whole process takes 70−80 days. In humans, spermatocyte maturation takes 23.5 days, spermiogenesis takes 21.6 days and the total estimated time for spermatogenesis is 74 days.
