Solution:
Vasopressin released from posterior pituitary maintains water and electrolyte balance by increasing reabsorption of water and electrolytes from distal tubule and thereby reducing loss of water. Hence it is also known as anti-diuretic hormone. Thyroid hormones also plays a major role in regulating water and electrolyte balance. Aldosterone which is a mineralocorticoid secreted by adrenal gland also stimulates reabsorption of sodium and water and excretion of potassium and phosphate thus maintain water and electrolyte balance.
