Solution:

Depending upon the type of the raw material used for fermentation and type of processing [with or without distillation], different types of alcoholic drinks are obtained.
Some examples include:
  • Beer - It is produced from the fermentation of different starch types, such as rice and malted barley.
  • Cider - It is also known as apple wine, and it is produced through the fermentation of apple juice.
  • Wine - It is produced from the fermentation of grapes. Wine, cider, and beer are classified as non-distilled beverages with a lower alcohol concentration.
  • Spirit - A distilled beverage, spirit, or liquor is an alcoholic beverage containing distilling (concentrating by distillation) ethanol produced using fermenting grain fruits or vegetables. Whisky, brandy, and rum are produced by the distillation of fermented broth (high alcohol concentration). Other types of distilled beverages are vodka, gin, tequila, etc.
A fermenter refers to a large manufacturing vessel required for the large scale production of several products using microbes. The type of fermenter does not affect the alcohol produced in it.
