Solution:

Mutation is any change in the sequence of DNA leading to change in the expression of genes. When the mutation occurs due to addition or deletion of a nucleotide in the sequence and changes the reading frame for that gene/sequence called frame shift mutation. Such mutation is observed in the genetic disorder sickle cell anemia where the glutamate amino acid is replaced by valine.
In a sequence, if a purine is substituted by a pyrimidine and vice versa, such substitution is called transverse substitution.
