Resistance, R=ρAl ∴RΔR=∣∣lΔl∣∣+∣∣AΔA∣∣(∵ρ is constant) RΔR=2∣∣lΔl∣∣ (using eqn. (i)) ∴% increase in resistance of wire =2×0.5% =1%
