Sex determination is the process of detecting the gender of the individual organism. In human, the sex of the individual is controlled by the 23 pair of chromosomes called sex chromosomes. If the individual has the pair combination as XY, he is a male and if the combination is XX, she is a female. Male in humans is heterogamous and produces two type of sperms cells whereas the female is homogamous, producing only one type of gamete -X. Sex of the zygote depends on the type of sperm cell fertilizing the egg cell.
