Q. Endodermis is a part of:
Solution:
On the basis of location, there are three types of tissue systems in a plant, they are:
- the epidermal tissue system enclosing the parenchymatous epidermal layer. This includes stomata, some outgrowths in stem, etc. as its part. This is mainly parenchymatous.
- the ground tissue system enclosing the cortex, pericycle, pith, medullary rays, etc. They may be parenchymatous (pericycle), collenchymatous, or sclerenchymatous.
- the vascular tissue system encloses the xylem and phloem, the complex permanent tissues, inside the vascular bundles.
Endodermis the boundary between the cortex and the stele in vascular plants. They may be also called as the central, innermost layer of cortex. This cuts off the cortical layer from the stele, in which the vascular bundles are present. Thus, it is the extrastelar ground tissue.
