Eichhornia crassipes is a water plant, ie, hydrophytic plant found in places where excess of water is present. In Eichhornia crassipes, no root cap develops but instead as analogous structure called root pocket is formed.
It is a free floating hydrophytic plant, which floats freely upon the surface of water.
