Solution:

Amitosis is also called Karyostenosis or direct cell division, or binary fission. Flemming coined this term. In this type of cell, the division nucleus elongates and divides into two nuclei without equal chromosome distribution. A simple cleavage of the nucleus and division of cytoplasm occurs without the formation of spindle fibers. It is observed in yeast, fungi, bacteria, etc.
