Q. Disease caused by undersecretion of adrenal cortex

16  159 NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2022 Report Error

Solution:

The adrenal gland consists of an outer cortex and inner medulla. The outer cortex secretes glucocorticoids, mineralocorticoids, and sex corticoids. The adrenal medulla secretes adrenaline and noradrenaline. These hormones sometimes show hypersecretion or under secretion. Hypersecretion of adrenal cortex hormones results in Cushing's disease while hyposecretion results in Addison's disease. Addison's disease occurs when there is damage to the adrenal cortex is and aldosterone and cortisol is not secreted properly.
