Solution:
Diabetes insipidus is caused by the deficiency of antidiuretic hormone (ADH).ADH is secreted by hypothalamus and released from posterior lobe of pituitary gland. It facilitates reabsorption of water by the distal parts of the kidney tubules and thereby prevents diuresis. Diabetes insipidus is characterised by excessive dilute urine and intense thirst.
