The pyruvic acid, generated in the glycolysis, enters into the mitochondrial matrix, undergoes oxidative decarboxylation and forms active acetate i.e., acetyl Co−A. The acetyl Co−A is accepted by the Krebs' cycle. Therefore, it acts as intermediate compound between glycolysis and Kreb's cycle.
