Solution:

The gymnosperms are a group of vascular seed plants. In these plants, the ovules are not enclosed by ovary wall and remain exposed, both before and after fertilization. The term gymnosperm derives from the Greek word gymnos meaning 'naked' and sperma meaning 'seed'. Medium-sized or tall trees and shrubs are included in gymnosperms.
Adaptations of Conifer trees :
  1. They are gymnosperms and lack vessels.
  2. They have needle shaped leaves that keeps the snow away from settling on the leaves.
  3. The mesophyll cells are protected by the presence of thick and waxy cuticle.
  4. The central vein containing vascular tissues is protected by tightly packed tissues.
  5. They have sunken stomata to maintain water loss under conditions of physiological drought.
