Solution:
It was observed by Schleiden that all tissues of the plants are composed of different kinds of cells. The different kinds of animal and plant cells were studied by Schwann. He observed that animal cells had a thin outer layer which later was named as plasma membrane. Through his observations on the plant tissues he also concluded that an unique character found in the plant cells is the presence of cell wall. The cell theory was together formulated by Schleiden and Schwann. Rudolf Virchow was the first person to explain that new cells arise from cell division of pre-existing cells.
