Solution:

: The competition between the individuals of the same species for resources and space is termed as intraspecific competition. It is most severe in plants. It can easily be observed in a crop field where the plants are not grown with proper spacing. Plants in dense aggregation show stunted growth and give poor yield. The intraspecific competition is especially intense because members of the same species have the same space and nutritional requirements and they compete directly for all available resources of their surroundings. To avoid such competition plants adapt several means of dispersal of their seeds and propagating organs.
