In eukaryotic cells, RNA is produced by transcription and processed before getting transported to the cytoplasm where they are used as a template for protein synthesis. RNAs do not play a role in photosynthesis.
Eukaryotic mRNA requires processing to become active since in eukaryotes the genes have interrupted coding sequences called introns. It occurs in the nucleus of eukaryotic cells and involves removal of the non-coding stretches (introns) and splicing together of the discontinuous coding sequences (exons).
