Telocentric chromosome is a chromosome like a straight rod with the centromere in terminal position. Metacentric chromosome is a X-shaped chromosome, with the centromere in the middle so that the two arms of the chromosomes are almost equal. Acrocentric chromosome is a chromosome in which the centromere is located quite near one end of the chromosome. Sub-metacentric chromosome is a chromosome whose centromere is located near the middle.
