Cartilage: Intercellular material is solid, pliable and incompressible. Matrix has small cavities in which chondrocytes (cells) are present.
Occurrence: During embryonic stages, most of the endoskeleton is made up of cartilage which is gradually replaced by bones. Other sites: Tip of the nose, outer ear joints, between the vertebra, limbs and hands.
