An invert sugar is laevorotatory. Sucrose is known as 'invert sugar'. After hydrolysis it gives dextrarotatory glucose and laevorotatory fructose. Since the laevorotation of fructose is more than dextrarotation of glucose , the mixture obtained is laevorotatory.
