An Ovary is the basal enlarged part of a carpel. Multicarpellary gynoecium may be of two types: Apocarpous and Syncarpous. In Apocarpous condition free carpels are present while in syncarpous condition carpels are fused with each other. Apocarpous ovary is present in Lotus.
