Q.
A monkey (mass 20kg ) climbs up on a rope. If the rope can bear a maximum tension of 250N . Find the maximum upward acceleration of the monkey. (g=10(ms)−2)
For monkey, we can write
T -Mg= Ma
or M(g + a) = T ....(i)
for suspended weight,
T ≤ mg ....(ii)
T ≤ 25 × 10 or 250 N [breaking strength]
∴ Equation (i) becomes
20.(10 + a) ≤ 250 ⇒a≤2050ora≤2.5ms−2
∴ amax = 2.5 ms-2
