Solution:

The main plant body of Chlamydomonas (an algae) is haploid, it produces gametes. Fusion between male and female gametes leads to a diploid structure called zygospore. Zygospore withdraws its flagella and comes to rest. After undergoing resting period its contents divide meiotic ally to form four haploid protoplasts.
