NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020

Solution:

The loss or excretion of water or exudation of xylem sap in the form of liquid droplets from the tips of uninjured leaves of vascular plants is known as guttation. This phenomenon usually takes place through special structures called hydathodes, which are present on the margins and tips of leaves of these plants. Solution Each hydathode consists of a group colorless, parenchymatous cells called epithem, which lie over the tip of a vascular strand and communicate with the outside through a permanent pore in the epidermis called water pore or water stoma. Exudation of xylem sap from the stoma is due to the occurrence of positive pressure in the xylem, known as the root pressure.
