Q. Wien 's displacement law for emission of radiation can be written as $(\lambda_{max})$ = wavelength whose energy density is greatest)

J & K CETJ & K CET 2008Thermal Properties of Matter

Solution:

Wien's displacement law
$ \, \, \, \, \, \, \, \lambda_{max}.T=b$
where b = Wien's constant
$\therefore \, \, \, \, \, \, \, \, \lambda_{max}\propto \frac{1}{T}$
Thus,$\lambda_{max}$ is inversely proportional to absolute temperature (T)
