Q. Why glucose and galactose cannot act as an inducer for lac operon?

Molecular Basis of Inheritance

Solution:

An inducer binds with the repressor protein and prevents the repressor protein from binding to the operator.
Glucose and galactose cannot act as an inducer because these do not have the binding sites for attaching the repressor protein.
