Q. Who called the living matter of the cell as protoplasm?

Chhattisgarh PMTChhattisgarh PMT 2005

Solution:

Purkinje $(1837)$ renamed the living matter of the cell and called 'protoplasm'. J Huxley first defined protoplasm as 'physical basis of life'. Protoplasm is a complex, granular, elastic, viscous and colourless substance, it is selectively or differentially permeable. It is considered as 'polyphasic colloidal system'.
