Q. Which solution will cause plasmolysis in the cell?

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020

Solution:

When a cell is placed in a hypertonic solution, water moves out and the cell undergoes plasmolysis (flaccid). This occurs when the solute concentration of the solution is more than the concentration inside the cytoplasm. When water goes out of the cell, the cytoplasm shrinks and the turgor pressure will become zero, at this time the DPD will be equal to OP, as TP=0. The below picture shows the stages of plasmolysis when the cell is placed in hypertonic condition.
