Q. Which process is completed in mitochondria?

AMUAMU 2001

Solution:

Mitochondria are the seats for cellular respiration or oxidative phosphorylation. It is the enzymatic phosphorylation of ADP to ATP coupled to electron transfer from a substrate to molecular oxygen.
Photophosphorylation is the enzymatic formation of ATP from ADP coupled to the light dependent transfer of electrons in photosynthetic cells. It occurs in chloroplast.
Photolysis is the light dependent breakdown of a molecule as during photosynthsis $H _{2} O$ is brokendown into $H ^{+}$and $OH ^{-}$ions.
Matrix is the aqueous component of cell or organelle (like in mitochondria) with dissolved solutes.
