Q. Which part of the plant do not perform photosynthesis?

Photosynthesis in Higher Plants

Solution:

Photosynthesis occurs particularly in specialized cell called mesophyll cells. These cells contain chloroplast, which is the actual sites for photosynthesis. The cactus stem and guard cell of stomata contain chloroplasts, so they can manufacture food by photosynthesis. The epidermal cells do not contain chloroplasts, so they do not perform photosynthesis.
