: Pinus roxburghii (Chir pine) is native to the temperate himalayas. Pine wood is the source of an oleo resin which yields turpentine oil. The oil is used as a solvent for paints and varnishes, in pharmaceutical preparations and perfumery, and in the manufacture of disinfectants, insecticides and denaturants. It is expectorant and useful in chronic bronchitis.
