Plastids are membrane bound organelles found in cells of plants, algae and some other organisms from eukaryotic group. These organelles are involved in either making food or storage of food. Plastids are further divided into groups as leucoplast, chromoplast and chloroplast. Chloroplast is involved in making food via photosynthesis. Leucoplast are colourless organelles mainly for storage and it is further grouped as amyloplast, elaioplast and aleuroplast. Chromoplast is an organelle that provides colour containing yellow or orange pigment.
