In some seeds (e.g., legumes), reserve food is
stored in cotyledons, whereas in others {e.g., cereals) there
is special nutritive tissue called endosperm. The seeds having
endosperm are called endospermic or albuminous seeds
e.g., cereals, castor, cashew etc., whereas seeds in which
endosperm is fully consumed by embryo and no endosperm is
left are called non-endospermic seeds or ex-albuminous seeds
e.g., gram, pea, bean, cucumber, etc.
