Q. Which of these characters does/do not apply to the vascular bundle of monocot stem?
I. Conjoint II. Endarch protoxylem III. Open IV. Phloem parenchyma is absent

KEAMKEAM 2014Anatomy of Flowering Plants

Solution:

Vascular bundles of monocot stem are conjoint, collateral (xylem, phloem both present together on the same radius) but closed i.e. they lack cambium hence secondary growth is absent. Phloem consists of sieve tubes, companion cells and a few phloem fibres. Phloem parenchyma is absent.
