Q. Which of the following will be able to show geometrical isomerism ?

KCETKCET 2015Coordination Compounds

Solution:

Tetrahedral complexes do not show geometrical isomerism because relative position of unidentate ligands attached to central metal atom are same with respect to each other.

So, options (b) and (d) are not correct.

Square planar complex $M A_{3} B$ (option (a) do not show geometrical isomerism because the possible spatial arrangement are equivalent. Squar planar complex MABCD type form three isomers (cis-trans isomerism), two of these are cis and one is trans.
