Free radical chain reactions occur mainly in non-polar compound or compounds, which give radicals by homolytic fission (often in presence of UV-light). These reactions may even occur in gaseous state (i.e., they need no solvent). Also these reactions proceeds in three main steps i.e., initiation, propagation and termination.
